In my opinion it's a good thing the Shinkaruk is going for surgery, get it fixed before the start of summer workouts so he's 100% by the time camp rolls around next year. |

Also - I hope it's nothing serious for Lu but some minor discomfort, we'll need this guy down the stretch here. Lack is good, but I fear with a prolonged look, he may burn out. |

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: G Eriksson Recalled from Utica, Shinkaruk Out for Season
After leaving the Canucks' last game with a possible groin injury, Roberto Luongo missed Vancouver's first practice after the Christmas break on Friday. It was also announced that prospect Hunter Shinkaruk will miss the rest of this season as he undergoes hip surgery. - Carol Schram
Much better than Eklund's blog this morning.
My god what a travesty in 'journalism' that was!!
Glad to hear Shinkaruk is getting treatment, now rather than trying to play through it. Hope it all ends well. |

Hope Shinkaruk can make a full recovery. Didn't Kesler have hip issues too? I hope Lu's injury isn't as bad as the one suffered against the Penguins and can get healthy before the Olympics. Either way, I have no issues with whomever starts in net for Team Canada.
I hope Carol didn't spend money on that book. I don't want to get political, but ... nah... I better stop.

No worries here! I got it from the library and it's due back today. I don't even think it's worth a small overdue fine to try to finish it.

Good to hear.
I know too many people out of work because of him and now the post office (curious to find out how many G8 or G20 countries don't have a national mail service). Every time I see that book at Costco or Chapters I start to gag.
Anywho, thank you for your blogs and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Looking forward to Sunday's game. Injuries are unfortunate, but it is a chance for other players to step up- prospects and other players used in different roles and we get to see a different side of the team. Go Canucks!

I'm sure Dolon is happy with Lundquist on the bench. Unless they are showcasing Talbot. Kid looks good |

Yeah, obviously better than playing through it. But it's horrible that he lost a year of development and a serious hip injury isn't exactly great news to hear either. |

I know Hank's struggling and Talbot's playing well, but this could get messy. I believe I've read in the past that it was AV's call to bench Luongo in the LA series(Gillis was apparently not on board), that really (frank)ed over Gillis since everyone then started to assume that it was over for Luongo in Vancouver and he had to be moved ASAP.
And I actually do like Schneider over Luongo, but that move just really hurt Gillis' trade leverage(assuming he had some). |

Are you basing this off of this season? Has to be, and if so kinda hard for a player that plays a speed/skill game to play well with a really bad hip. In year's past he's been just fine.
And yes, Horvat. |

with Lu, Edler and Burrows out for a few weeks surely that means the canucks cap room is only going to get bigger when it comes to trade deadline day. (Schroeder is out too, but not a big cap impact).
Will they be buyers in a market where a lot of teams can't buy?? |

I mean I get that AV's job is to just worry about winning, but he (frank)ed over Gillis and Luongo big time with that move IMO. |

I'd be shocked if Burrows isn't back before the TDL, I bet he's back soon. Edler as well should be go to go before the TDL. Haven't read anything on Luongo's injury though. |
